Job Description:
Scintillator Detector Assembly Technician Needed for DARPA
Project at FermiLab Our client, Fermi Lab in Batavia, IL, has a
need for a Scintillator Detector Assembly Technician (SDAT) for
their Emerging Technologies Directorate (ETD) in support of their
DARPA Project "Experiment Neutrino Detector" (END). The SDAT will
assist in the scintillator detector design, prototyping, assembly,
and test for the scintillator planes that are used in underwater
detectors. You will work under the direction of the Particle
Physics Division (PPD) and ETD staff. Expected project length: 12
months Full-time (40 hours/week) position Work site location:
Batavia, IL The worksite is a federal facility. ONLY REAL
ID-compliant IDs are accepted to enter the Fermi site. Duties of
the position include: Assist in facility setup Prepare prototypes
and develop final assembly procedures Prepare scintillator samples
for light-yield measurements Measure samples using existing system
and record data in excel Assist in detector production Support
operation of the extrusion line. Assist in both the running of the
extrusion lines and QC of the resultant parts Report to the
Principle Investigator of END on activities and results from tests,
measurements, and assembly Qualifications: At least 3 years'
experience with radiation detectors, including plastic scintillator
detectors. Experience in the following desirable: Extruded
scintillator of fiber scintillator detectors Radiation detector
assembly and test Radiation detector readout and test Radiation
detector system mechanical design and assembly All applications
