Job Description:

The Registered Nurse Lactation Counselor provides expert breastfeeding support and education to mothers and infants, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care.
Offers in-person consultations, phone follow-ups, and outpatient services to address lactation challenges and promote breastfeeding success.

Collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure seamless care and continuity post-discharge.

Educates families on breastfeeding techniques, infant cues, and benefits, while providing emotional support and documenting all interactions.

Assesses breastfeeding techniques, addresses common issues, and supports complex cases using evidence-based strategies.

Contributes to staff training, program development, and quality improvement efforts in lactation services.

Requires RN license, IBCLC certification, and strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills; preferred experience in hospital and outpatient settings.
