As our global footprint continues to expand, we are looking for a Cybersecurity Laboratory Manager to lead our team in Northbrook, IL. This team focuses on the IEC 62443 and UL 2900 standard for medical and non-medical devices and sits in the Cybersecurity Assurance Program (CAP).


This position is responsible for managing, running, and developing the activity of evaluation of highly secured embedded devices. Promotes UL Security Evaluation services and is a local representative to develop fruitful technical networking with world players entities globally. Shows a strong expertise in the hardware security of embedded systems in order to efficiently drive a team of individuals with different expertise and to show a strong value to local customers.

  • Take a leadership role of the security evaluation activity run in the laboratory.
  • Drive local projects by keeping a high standard of quality and strong concern for on-time delivery.
  • Manage projects and the corresponding resources in terms of experts and equipment.
  • Advise local sales force in commercial quotation, in accordance with established practices.
  • Represent UL and promote UL Security Evaluation services in conferences, exhibitions, or any key events.
  • Implement a strong technical interaction with different security laboratories in Asia and Europe.
  • Develop new techniques, processes, or expertise in order to improve the capability and the efficiency of UL Security Evaluation offering.
  • Manage the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
  • Industry expert who is master of the content in the appointed market domain.

  • 15 years' of relevant experience
  • Experience in cybersecurity lab operations
  • People management experience
  • Experience working on projects and delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to manage department objectives, staffing, and budgets
  • Detailed knowledge of product testing methodologies
  • Detailed knowledge of industry issues, needs, and problems
  • Any experience with IEC 62443, UL 2900, or in automotive standards such as ISO 21434 is desirable
  • Security related certifications a plus: CISSP, OSCP, GPEN, OSCE, GXPN, CEH, Security+
