Description/Job Summary

Supply Chain department for Signode's Equipment and Tools division is responsible for ensuring inventory availability at the lowest possible total cost of ownership. The Buyer will be responsible for ensuring the timely replenishment of inventory through monitoring re-order points and inventory levels and. The inventory analyst will also provide support through various analytics, reports, and sharing of data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for the timely replenishment and reordering of inventory for a given set of parts
* Places purchase orders for production, non-production, and service items with approved suppliers
* Establishes strong relationships with key suppliers through regularly scheduled meetings, teleconference, or visits
* Issues requests for quotations to suppliers on new parts and established parts to get competitive bids and updated pricing and delivery schedules.
* Negotiates with suppliers to achieve price reductions and maintains a record of cost reduction achievement.
* Reviews open order status and provides detailed follow-up to ensure on-time delivery of goods to requested purchase order dates.
* Resolves supplier billing discrepancies.
* Works with the receiving department and quality assurance department to resolve orders with documentation and quality discrepancies
* Ensures timely communication is provided to customers, production, and other team members, works to resolve potential service or operational issues, and informs leaders as required
* Utilize systems and software to develop and maintain reporting tools to support business decisions
* Coordinate with other departments to ensure customer deadlines are met. Achieve and maintain inventory availability targets
* Utilize systems and software to develop and maintain reporting tools to support business decisions
* Analyze reports to identify operational issues throughout departments

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations or Supply Chain Management or equivalent education and experience
* Experience / Abilities


* High analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication skills being able to translate technical operational concepts into ordinary business terms and ideas
* The ability to interact with all levels of the organization
* Developing analytics, reports and communications for use throughout the organization
* Identifying areas to drive efficiency and operational effectiveness
