We are proud of our broad portfolio of more than 16,000 active patents.The Data Analyst's role is to design data modeling/analysis services used to mine enterprise systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhance business processes. This individual is also responsible for assisting in building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools, metadata inventories, and definitions for database file/table creation.**Strategy & Planning**+ Devise, develop, and deploy required data queries in response to business user needs.+ In conjunction with data owners and department managers, develop data models and protocols for mining production databases.+ Assist in the development of data management policies and procedures.+ Identify research questions, problem solve using data analysis and communicate the results to various stakeholders**Operational Management**+ Work with application development staff to coordinate the creation and management of data queries.+ Collaborate with unit managers, end-users, development staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data management applications with existing systems.+ Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization.+ Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data models.+ Create data definitions for new database file/table development and changes to existing ones.+ Determine required network components to ensure data access, as well as data consistency and integrity.+ Develop routines for end-users to facilitate best-practice use of data management tools.+ Collaborate with database and disaster recovery administrators to ensure adequate protection and integrity of data assets.+ Monitor data management system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.**Formal Education & Certification**+ College diploma or university degree in computer science or statistics, or three years of equivalent work experience.**Knowledge & Experience**+ Strong understanding of data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices.+ Excellent knowledge of data modeling tools+ Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.+ Working technical experience with relational database servers.+ Direct experience with data management techniques.+ Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience.+ Project management experience.+ Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.+ Involvement in inter-departmental projects and experience communicating with various stakeholders**Personal Attributes**+ Good written and oral communication skills.+ Strong technical documentation skills.+ Good interpersonal skills.+ Ability to research data management issues, practices, and products as required.+ Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language.+ Highly self-motivated and directed.+ Keen attention to detail.+ Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.+ Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.+ Strong customer service orientation.+ Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.ITW Culture & Leadership Expectations:+ Exemplify and embody the ITW Leadership expectations + Able to thrive and collaborate in a decentralized and entrepreneurial culture + Able to take a high level of accountability and ownership for personal and company performance+ Able to communicate both verbal and written with clarity and simplicity+ Exemplifies a strategic-thinking approach and process to product management+ Able to make decisions and use critical thinking and analytical approaches when weighing options_ITW is an equal opportunity employer.
